BLOXcon Chicago LogoChicago FAQ

ROBLOX is bringing BLOXcon to Chicago on July 13th, 2013!

BLOXcon is the quintessential gathering of ROBLOX staff and fans, where building, playing, learning and making friends are the priorities of the day. As an attendee, you’ll get exclusive demos of new ROBLOX features, meet fellow ROBLOXians, see presentations by staff and veteran users, participate in interactive events and more!

What’s going on at BLOXcon?

Main Stage Presentation: 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Every BLOXcon attendee is entitled to see the Main Stage Presentation. There are two shows – you chose one when purchasing a BLOXcon pass.

CEO and ROBLOX Co-Founder David Baszucki and VP of Marketing and Brand Experience Brad Justus will lead a two-hour presentation covering a gamut of ROBLOX news and developments. We’ll showcase new ROBLOX features, give a bunch of awards, do an on-stage interview with celebrity ROBLOXian Merely, and more!

R&D Lab: 9:00 a.m.  10:00 a.m. (open to all) , 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (by reservation only)

Play and build with friends and ROBLOX developers. Ask questions, voice concerns, and give feedback to real-life ROBLOX employees. Seating is limited, so make sure to reserve your spot for the R&D Lab at the ROBLOX Staff booth!

Hackathon: 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m.

Get out your laptop and participate in the Hackathon! This is your chance to truly test your ROBLOX skills—participate in a wide range of building and scripting challenges posed by the ROBLOX developers. Win prizes for speed and accuracy! Oh, and don’t worry about wireless internet–we’ve got that covered.

BLOXcon Chicago Poster and PackageThere will also be several booths featuring ROBLOX veterans and builders, opportunities to meet the ROBLOX staff (see who’s going here), and lots of ROBLOX schwag. We’re especially excited about the BLOXcon Chicago body package, available exclusively at BLOXcon Chicago when you purchase the shirt/ROBLOX card/fedora/BLOXcon pin bundle.

Pro-tips for an awesome BLOXcon experience

  • Bring a laptop, if you have one. This will let you participate in the Hackathon, where you can show your building and scripting prowess.
  • Bring food. That way, you’ll be able to maximize your time at BLOXcon and stay energized.
  • Wear comfortable clothes. It’s Chicago. It’s July. It’s probably hot.

How do I get there?
As you (hopefully) know, BLOXcon Chicago is taking place in the West Pavilion at The Museum of Science and Industry, which is located at 5700 S. Lake Shore Drive. Check out the museum’s website for more information on parking and public transport.

Do I have to bring a printed pass?
Printed passes are not necessary, but will help if there is any confusion at the badge pick-up table. Badges are organized and grouped by the last name of the person who placed the order. The registration staff will have a full list of attendees to help you find your badge.

If you pre-ordered a museum ticket with your BLOXcon pass, it will be included with your badge at pickup.

Will there be food and drink for sale at the event?
Food and drink will not be provided at BLOXcon. There is a food court in the Museum of Science and Industry that you will need a museum pass to access, and a snack machine near the parking garage. Nearby restaurants are about ½ mile away. We encourage you to bring snacks and eat them in designated areas!

Can I leave and re-enter the event?
Yes. As long as you have your badge you may leave and come back into the event space during open hours.
