ROBLOX is bringing BLOXcon to New York City on August 10th, 2013!
BLOXcon is the quintessential gathering of ROBLOX staff and fans, where building, playing, learning and making friends are the priorities of the day. As an attendee, you’ll get exclusive demos of new ROBLOX features, meet fellow ROBLOXians, see presentations by staff and veteran users, participate in interactive events and more!
What’s going on at BLOXcon?
Main Stage Presentation: 9:00 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
Every BLOXcon attendee is entitled to see the Main Stage Presentation. There are four shows – you chose one when purchasing a BLOXcon pass. If you’re in the 9:00 a.m. Main Stage Presentation, be to the Museum by 8:15 a.m. and look for the appropriate queue. You don’t want to miss anything!
CEO and Co-Founder David Baszucki and VP of Marketing and Brand Experience Brad Justus will lead a two-hour presentation covering a gamut of ROBLOX news and developments. We’ll showcase new ROBLOX features, give a bunch of awards, host an interview with Seranok, hold a Q&A session for all, and more!
R&D Lab: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (open to all), 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (by reservation only)
Visit the R&D lab to build and play with friends and ROBLOX developers. Seating is limited, so make sure to reserve your spot by picking up a reservation at the lab!
Hackathon: 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m.
Get out your laptop and participate in the Hackathon! This is your chance to test your ROBLOX skills — participate in a wide range of building and scripting challenges posed by the ROBLOX developers. Win prizes for speed and accuracy!
There will also be opportunities to meet the ROBLOX staff (see who’s going), talk with builder-author cowbear16 (and browse his selection of Lua books), and pick up ROBLOX schwag. We’re especially excited about the BLOXcon NYC body package, available exclusively at BLOXcon NYC when you purchase $40 worth of ROBLOX merchandise (shirts/hoodies/ROBLOX cards/fedoras/BLOXcon pins).
Finally, entry to the Intrepid Museum (excluding the Space Shuttle Pavilion) is included with each BLOXcon pass.
Pro-tips for an awesome BLOXcon experience
- Bring a laptop, if you have one. This will let you participate in the Hackathon, where you can show your building and scripting prowess.
- Bring food. That way, you’ll be able to maximize your time at BLOXcon and stay energized.
- Wear comfortable clothes. It’s New York. It’s July. There’s a good chance it’s going to get warm.
How do I get there?
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is located on the West side of Manhattan on Pier 86, 12th Ave. & 46th Street. It is easily accessible from all points in the New York City Metro area. The Museum website has more information on public transport, driving directions and parking.
Do I have to bring a printed pass?
Printed passes are not necessary, but will help if there is any confusion at the badge pick-up table. Badges are organized and grouped by the last name of the person who placed the order. The registration staff will have a full list of attendees to help you find your badge.
Will there be food and drink for sale at the event?
Food and drink will not be provided at BLOXcon. There are a couple cafes inside the Intrepid Museum and snack machines on the Pier and Flight Deck. Seating in the cafes is limited. You are encouraged to bring snacks and eat them in designated areas.
Can I leave and re-enter the event?
Yes. As long as you have your badge you may leave and come back into the event space during open hours.
Does my BLOXcon pass get me access to the Intrepid Museum?
Entry to the Museum is included with each BLOXcon pass, but please note this does not include entry to the Space Shuttle Pavilion.
